SERVE

Each day, we are served by people we come into contact with. Whether at the coffee house or the post office, whether done graciously or with a bit of sarcasm, we experience the act of one human effecting another's life. While we may enjoy being served more than doing the serving, Christ left us the example of a life defined by His service, done through a heart of commitment to people.

Whether he came across a shunned, five-time divorcee or a close friend, Christ served others through compassion and genuine love. The Bible tells us that each person has a calling, or a spiritual gift. As the Spirit of God works, each Christian should begin to discover that calling and use the gift to serve the church and the community. In serving others, believers will become more like Christ — touching people with the truest love, the life-changing love of God.
